My dog growls at our new, larger rescue. How can I prevent fights?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed

Daisy is very protective over things like her toys & bed but we have recently rescued a larger dog. I'm worried about her growling at him as he could cause some serious damage if he wanted to.

I recommend that you keep them separate until you are sure they can get along when you are gone. Separating by a baby gate or keeping them on leashes would be fine. If they fight over toys, then all toys should be removed from the area. You also. Red to keep a close eye on them around feeding time. Here is a helpful article
