My dog has a growing lump with a green tint. Does it need a vet?

Ajayi's lump looks a bit irregular and to the naked eye looks most like a papilloma, which is a benign wart-like mass. Papillomas are not terribly common in young dogs, but not all dogs read textbooks in what they "should" do! Other possible causes include an irritated insect bite or sting, some healing granulomatous tissue from rough play with one of his housemates, or other benign or malignant masses. Since Ajayi isn't bothered by this lesion, I think it's perfectly reasonable to monitor it at home for changes for now. If it grows or becomes irritated at any point, or is still present in a few weeks, then you should take Ajayi to his vet for further evaluation. Your vet would likely need to perform a fine needle aspirate to draw out some of the cells for microscopic evaluation. I hope that everything goes well!

You should clean the skin with antiseptic solution twice daily for 3-4 days (for example 4% chlorhexidine). If the bump / blister ( it almost look like inflamed nipple on the picture you posted) does not get better or if it starts to bother Apollo, you should take him to your local vets for an appointment

The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. I would have Ophelia seen by a vet on Monday or Tuesday to have this lump examined and diagnosed so it can be treated as needed.

It sounds as though this lump bothers Avery quite a bit since he keeps licking it. The lump could be caused by a benign or malignant mass, cyst, etc. and may have become infected due to Avery's licking. At this point, there isn't anything that you can do at home. A vet should examine Avery and will likely need to perform a fine needle aspirate (using a needle to draw out a few cells from the mass - it's quick and relatively painless!) so that the sample can be examined microscopically. From there, Avery may need oral antibiotics to treat any infection. Until you can take him to the vet, put an e-collar (cone) on him to prevent further licking and irritation of the lump. Try to avoid putting any additional hydrogen peroxide on the lump, as repeated use can delay healing. I hope that he's on the mend soon!

Without further testing, there is no way to tell if this growth is due to infection, trauma or allergy, or if it is a tumour. Tumours can be of a malignant (cancerous) type that can spread elsewhere and/ or invade the healthy tissue around them, or a more benign (noncancerous) type that is unlikely to spread. I recommend making an appointment to see your vet to have the growth tested. In many cases this can be done using a fine needle aspirate, where cells are removed from the growth using a needle and examined under a microscope to determine what it is and to guide treatment. In some cases further testing may be needed to determine the necessary course of treatment, but it is important to get new growths tested in a timely manner, as some can be cancerous and quite aggressive in their growth, and growths due to infection, allergy or trauma can lead to complications or be indicators of underlying health problems. In the meantime, it is very important that you keep Trey from licking the area to help prevent infection by making sure he wears the “cone” (also known as an e-collar or Elizabethan collar) at all times when he is not being directly supervised by you, including while sleeping. Pain medications meant for humans can be very dangerous (and even deadly) for dogs, so I do not recommend giving any to your pup without consulting with your vet. Your veterinarian can prescribe safe medication to help with the pain as needed. Hope your pup feels better soon!

Without examining Aero and performing diagnostic tests, I can't definitively say what the cause of this lesion may be. However, some possible causes include a follicular cyst (a benign fluid filled lesion under the skin that can feel hard), sebaceous cyst (a benign oil/sebum filled cyst), inflammatory lesion from trauma, or many other causes. Given Aero's young age, cancerous lesions are very unlikely. This is certainly not an emergency, but I do recommend taking Aero to his vet for further evaluation in the coming days to weeks. Your vet will be able to examine him and will likely need to perform a fine needle aspirate, which involves using a needle to draw out a few cells from the lesion for microscopic evaluation. Based on these results, your vet will be able to determine the best course of treatment. In the meantime, keep a close eye on the lesion for any sudden growth, redness or discharge. If Aero begins to lick at the lesion, put an e-collar (cone) on him until his vet visit, as licking could result in infection of the lesion. I hope this helps and that all goes well!
