Why is my dog foaming after chasing a frog and acting so lazy?

Rinse her mouth with cool running water for at least 15 minutes. Keep her head tilted downward to prevent aspiration of water. It is likely there is not enough toxin to cause serious toxicity. Monitor for weakness, vomiting, diarrhea, difficulty breathing, disorientation or seizures. Treatment is largely symptomatic. See your veterinarian if Shirley develops any of these symptoms.

Certain toads (Marine Toad or Colorado River Toad) can be toxic if bitten of ingested. You should rinse Ash's mouth out with cool water for at least 15 minutes. Monitor for excessive drooling, redness or swelling in and around her mouth, increased heart rate or ataxia (wobbly gait). Frogs are less toxic than toads and may cause nothing more serious than some drooling and minor stomach upset.

I'm sorry to hear Duchess may have had contact with a potential toxin. Not all frogs and toads are dangerous to dogs, but the ines that secrete toxins on their backs are. I would rinse her mouth out immediately with copious amounts of water, and then contact your regular veterinarian or local poison control to see if further action and decontamination is required. How cute is Buddy! It is possible that Buddy may have came in to contact with a bug, frog/toad, or some foreign material in his mouth while he was sniffing underneath the bush that caused him to foam at the mouth. Some frogs or bugs will release an irritating substance when they feel threatened by a predator; this can cause excessive salivation and "foaming" if it comes in to contact with the mouth. Typically these are harmless, but there are some toxic toads (i.e. Bufo toad)depending on your location. There is the potential that Buddy could have been stung by an insect that caused these signs, too. Since Buddy was back to normal by the time you arrived home, I would suspect it was harmless. I would just keep a close eye on Buddy when he is nosing around the bushes again.

Some toads are poisonious/noxious to dogs. Typically they cause an acute reaction of excessive drooling and foaming at the mouth. This usually resolves within 30-60 minutes. If after this amount of time Samson is still acting abnormal you may want to take him in to the vet to be checked out.

Peita should be just fine! Depending on the type of toad, they can have some toxins on their outer surface that taste awful so predators will spit them out if they try to eat them (which sounds exactly like what happened with Peita). Once the source (i.e. the toad) is removed so is the taste. So you do not need to worry!

Without knowing the type of toad licked, it would be hard to say. If she is showing signs of toxicity such as vomiting, diarrhea, excessive drooling, confusion, etc, it would be best to seek emergency care right away.
