Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 10 months old | 50 lbs

Would a lactating dog have a fever with eclampsia? 3 weeks post whelping first time mom and delivered 9 pups and all placentas.

Thanks for the question. Yes, fever can be a sign of eclampsia. If Cali is acting nervous, distressed, or is having trouble standing or walking, she should be seen as soon as possible. Eclampsia can be a serious problem! If she has no other signs, any fever post-whelping should be evaluated. I hope Cali feels better soon.
