My chihuahua fell, seems fine. When should I take her to the vet?

If Eriko isn't showing any other signs since her fall 13 hours ago, I would just continue to monitor her. She may have been pacing because she was in pain. Continue to keep an eye on her, and if she develops any concerning signs or starts pacing again, have her seen by a vet. Best of luck.

If Chiquita seems to be fine then I would not be overly worried. If she does anything abnormal like not eating, limping, is lethargic, etc then you should get her to the vet right away. Sorry that no one responded to you sooner but please remember that this is not an emergency service. If you have what you think may be an emergency always call your local ER clinic for advice. I recommend monitoring her for lethargy, reduced appetite or evidence of pain (yelping when jumping or running, being pet in certain areas, or overall reduced activity). Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! She should be fine! Especially since she didn't cry, isn't limiting and is acting fine. Sometimes they will feel sore the next day. So I would watch for limping, stiffness or lethargy. But I would be surprised if she shows any symptoms. Good luck!

If Coco is otherwise normal and there is no indication she is experiencing any pain, no real need to rush off to the veterinarian. However, if you notice she is tender or painful to the touch on the side of the collision, is experiencing breathing abnormalities, becomes lethargic or has a sudden decrease in appetite, I would recommend bringing her in to see her veterinarian for an exam and perhaps x-rays. I always advise that if an abnormal sign or behavior persists, worsens or other signs develop to always have your pet evaluated by your veterinarian right away. The fall may have caused some soft tissue/bone injuries or even internal injuries that are causing her problems. Also, she could be suffering from something unrelated to the fall. Your vet can examine her after gathering a history and then advise you on diagnostics/treatment. Possible tests include fecal/blood/urine tests and x-rays. Good luck

Hi. I'm sorry Chupa hurt herself. If she is dragging her rear legs she needs to be seems by a vet asap. She may have a back or spinal cord injury. If she can stand and move both legs she may be ok with a bit of rest but if she is dragging her legs at all or wobbly on them then she needs to be checked by a vet. In the meantime don't let her jump up or down on furniture, make sure to carry her up and down stairs and keep her confined to a small area or crate. I hope Chupa is better soon.
