My dog has a fast-growing mouth growth. Is it cancerous or benign?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 10 years and 5 months old | 46 lbs

Millie has this growth in her mouth which has grown dramatically. It looks cancerous to me. I pray and hope that it's benign. The earliest I was able to make an appointment is in a week's time but I have a feeling that if I call in they may be able to squeeze her in sooner... please advise. ♥️

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. I recommend you have Millie evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good night!
