Is it safe for my 35lb dog to eat petite Greenies for 5-15lb dogs?

I feed greenies to my own pet. As long as your pet chews the greenie and doesn't attempt to swallow it whole, it shouldn't cause any issues. Just remember they can add significantly to caloric intake so you should probably limit the number fed to once daily or every other day.

There isn’t necessarily a minimum age for soft dental chews like Greenies. Some dogs can easily bite off large pieces of Greenies that could cause an obstruction, so you should monitor closely while he’s chewing. They also tend to have quite a few calories so it is not ideal to offer one too frequently.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! No it isn't bad. too many treats can cause obesity so using smaller pieces helps prevent too many calories as treats. I would just have them eat them slower bu holding the piece in between your fingers for him to nibble and lick then release it. Hopefully slowing it down will prevent gagging from swallowing the treats too quickly. I hope this helps!

It should dissolve in his stomach but you should monitor for vomiting and diarrhea. If you notice anything abnormal then he should be examined by a vet for treatment. You could buy a Kong toy for him and stuff it with treats. He won't be able to swollow the Kong.

I would be concerned that eating an entire bag of greenies could cause some digestive upset. I would watch out for issues such as vomiting, diarrhea, bloating, extreme pain, etc that could indicate severe GI upset and warrants a trip to your vet or ER clinic. Otherwise, picking up Roscoe's food for several hours and then feeding a bland meal of boiled chicken and rice may help with any minor tummy upset.

Hi Diana, I have not yet tried the Nylabone Healthy Edibles with my dogs, but I just looked at the ingredients and think they might be a nice treat for Joey. Certainly, I always recommend monitoring a dog with any edible chew because they will sometimes bite off too large of a chunk, but I suspect that will be less of a problem with the Healthy Edibles than some of the other chew options on the market. Just be careful with smaller pieces that are swallowed whole as there is a chance of it getting stuck in the esophagus.
