Why is my dog drooling and quiet after back-to-back heats?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | unspayed | 8 years and 9 months old

My dog has been drooling all day, shes quiet. She has come back into season after just being in season. She was in the vets about 8 months ago with jaundice and her blood was very thick.

I would get her in to see your vet as soon as possible. Two heat cycles back to back could be a sign of a uterine infection or a hormonal disorder. A uterine infection, if left untreated, can be life-threatening. Drooling could be a sign of nausea, possibly from pain. Your vet will do an exam, lab work, possibly x-rays, and based on these results, they will be better able to tell you what is wrong and how best to treat it.
