If there hasn’t been an injury and she’s urinating and defecating normally she may have neck or back pain. This can be from a bulging intervertebral disc. You can do some gentle massage to see if you can locate the area of pain. Massage will relax her muscles and relive the pain from muscle spasms. You can also use some heat over her back and neck. It’s ok to give aspirin for pain as long as she’s eating and drinking. It can cause stomach upset so I never give it unless they are eating. There is a section in this website that has information on common over the counter medications and the dosage. Please take her in tomorrow if she’s not better. I recommend that you have Chico evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics include radiographs. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least they can prescribe pain control medications to make Chico feel better. In the meantime, reduce his activity as much as possible as that in itself can make a big difference. This sounds like he has bad back or hip pain. He needs veterinary attention right away. They will prescribe pain medication and may do X-rays to determine if he has hip or spinal arthritis. With treatment he should improve if he was fine before. Sometimes back or arthritis pain is worse after a lot of activity, or from being confined and not being able to move around. Unfortunately I do not recommend giving any over the counter pain medications to dogs. While aspirin is available in some pet stores and technically can be given to dogs it can easily cause stomach upset and if Koda was recently given any kind of NSAID medication it could cause serious problems. It’s also not the best for pain! I would recommend calling your vet to see if they can refill the pain medication for Koda since she’s still sore. Sometimes a warm compress can also help with comfort.

The fact she cries out when you touch her there and when trying to get up indicates back end pain. Some dogs with anal gland issues or Lyme disease can show similar symptoms. I would have her seen today by your Vet before the weekend. They will very likely on physical exam be able to tell where she hurts. It sounds like she is in pain and needs some physical therapy to help her learn to walk again. She has probably lost muscle from being in a cage so long. I recommend having her leg checked so you know where the lameness is from, like her knee, hip or foot, and seeing if there is a treatment for her lameness. They can also get her safe pain medication. She may walk better once the pain is under control. Use a harness and leash so you can assist her walking and get her up for many short walks during the day. It sounds like Cooper is painful. It could be a back spasm, a pulled muscle, or something more serious like a bulging disc. If you have any prescribed pain medications for Cooper, you can start that, and make sure he is resting, no running, no jumping, carrying him outside to go potty, etc. You can do gentle massage to help with muscle aches, and if you find a sore area you can use a heating pad on low.
