Dog coughed after Clavamox for dental. Should I restart or discard?

With any upper respiratory infection, it's safest to assume that your dog may still be contagious up to a week after symptoms have resolved. So even if your pup is on Clavamox, this rule still applies :)

Her eating grass and feeling unwell could very well be the clavamox, it is known to cause nausea. try giving the clavamox about 10-15 minutes after a large meal. it can reduce this side effect. the sleepiness could be both the antibiotics and the kennel cough, it's quite normal but she should start feeling better soon.

Clavamox and Convenia are not suitable antibiotics for this type of infection, azithromyacin is a very good option and should solve the problem, if it doesn't i would recommend asking your vet to try Doxycycline or Veraflox next.

Yes, lethargy can be a side effect of Clavamox, and it could also be a side effect of Higdon from feeling so ill from bronchitis. He should start feeling better in a couple of days from the antibiotic, so if he is still lethargic in another 72 hours, I would take him back into the vet for an exam.

This does not sound like a typical Kennel cough, which is usually responsive to antibiotics within 3-4 days, and then goes away after stopping medication in about 10 days time. There is something else going on here, which could include any of the following: an underlying heart condition (the heart and lungs are very much involved with each other), laryngeal paralysis (causes coughing in young adult dogs but not as common as other disorders), lung parasite, fungal infection of the lungs. You will have to get some testing done at this point to determine what the underlying cause is so that we know how best to treat Bruno moving forward. Bella is super cute!!! I would recommend to call her doctor and ask for recommendations. Likely the doctor will try a different antibiotic OR may recommend to just monitor her. Now that Bella is getting regular meals and has been dewormed, its possible that her immune system is still just catching up (I bet it was pretty weak) so the doctor may opt to monitor her and see if she kills the infection on her own. Generally speaking, when a veterinarian starts the combination of medications that you are currently giving, it does sometimes take two or three days for the medications to start decreasing the clinical symptoms. If Milo is eating, drinking, urinating, defecating, and playing normally but just has the bad cough, I would wait another 48 hours before contacting my veterinarian. If, however, your dog is starting to feel lethargic or anorexic, I would contact the veterinarian as soon as possible to either be seen again or possibly get a change of medications to treat the worsening cough.
