Can I use pet action topical flea medicine and hartz flea collar at the same time?

While some flea collars are generally safe to combine with topical flea medication, I do not recommend using either of those products on Khloe. Both are poor quality products that do not work well at all, and Hartz is especially poor. Many animals have had bad reactions to Hartz products, as well as still having problems with fleas. I can give you the flea treatment program I always recommend, which works very well and is safe for Khloe. First, I would give her Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, such as Advantage or Revolution. This is a treatment that has to be used once a month. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash her bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. I hope this helps!

You can use these products together, however there are safer and more effective products you can use to control fleas. Some of the products I recommend are Comfortis, Bravecto, and Nexgard. These are all very safe, work very well, and are oral tablets so you don't have to worry about applying anything to the skin.

Hartz is a very poor product, so I'm not surprised it didn't work for Kalee. I would wait at least two weeks after you applied the Hartz before giving her the credelio, as it's not good to combine flea medications. Remember as well that fleas live in the environment, they only jump on the dog to feed, so you have to disinfect your home as well. Wash her bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

My cat has fleas. How long to wait between Hartz and Advantage II?

Fleas collars do not typically work well. Hartz is not as strong as most other flea medicines and tend to have the most reactions. Advantage is great one that is monthly, Bravecto is another great one and it will last for 3 months but requiers a prescription. I would wait at least 2 weeks in between the topicals for her safety and the flea collar does not matter for timing of products.

My dog has fleas despite Comfortis and Hartz collar. What to do?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! While it is ok to use both, I would suggest a different approach if you are still finding fleas on Daisy. I would try a product called Capstar which can kill a lot of fleas at once and combine it with another monthly flea preventative other than Comfortis if you are not seeing the desired results currently. My older dog's flea treatment failed. Can I reapply it safely?

It usually takes 3-6 months of consistent monthly application of a quality flea preventative to rid a flea infestation. The ingredient in the Hartz Duel Action topical is unlikely to work very well for fleas. I suggest using a product like Frontline Plus, Advantix, Bravecto or Vextra for fleas as these tend to work better in my experience. I suggest thoroughly bathing Lil Feet to get rid of the Hartz topical and then apply one of the products listed above. You should do this monthly for at least 3-6 months to get rid of the problem. If the infestation is really bad you may need to have your house treated. If you are still seeing many fleas after a month or so you should schedule an examination with your veterinarian. How to prevent dog fleas? K9 Advantix, collars, oral meds: combine?

1. You don't need to give Daisy a flea bath before giving her the Advantix. You can give her the Advantix now. I don't recommend flea baths because they don't work well and can be very irritating to the skin. 2. You do not need to use the Advantix with the Sentry flea collar. Using Sentry (which contains fipronil) and Advantix together should be done with caution, as they have not be approved by the manufacturers for use together. The Advantix alone is enough protection. 3. You can give Daisy Capster with the Advantix. It's a one time pill that stars killing fleas in 30 minutes, and is safe to use anytime. That's the only oral medication I woken recommend to use in combination with the Advantix. Don't forget to disinfect the environment as well. Wash Daisy's bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a flea spray in the home such as Indorex, or you may need to flea bomb the house to kill the fleas.
