Rottweiler with CHF panting: Are his heart meds causing side effects?

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Male | neutered | 9 years and 4 months old | 127 lbs

My 9 year old Rottweiler has congestive heart failure diagnosed 2 year ago he ales 3 vetmedin capusules twice daily 2 lanoxin twice daily 3 frusecare twice daily and 1 diltiazem twice daily but still pants rapidly all the time do you think 3 vetmedin are too strong for him he is 58 kilos

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I'm sorry Chico is suffering from heart failure.

Can you provide the milligrams (mg) of each medication? I don't think the medications are causing him to pant. If he hasn't had a recheck with your Vet in a while I would schedule one to be sure he isn't still in congestive heart failure or his heart has worsened He may need adjustments in his medications. There are other reasons too for an older dog to pant more: sensitivity to heat, Cushings disease, pain, fever and cancer in the lungs.

I think you should have him rechecked by you Vet it is unlikely that he is on too much medications.
