Likewise, at only 10 pounds, Cooper is simply too tiny to be able to accurately split a Dramamine tablet into an appropriate dose. Try feeding her some ginger capsules, that usually takes away the nausea. And when you are not on a trip, start getting her used to driving in the car. Feed her in the car, go on 3-5 minute drives, slowly extending the time. This usually helps getting the dog used to being on a trip.

I personally think it would be better to skip the medication or potentially use a different prescription medication like Cerenia since Dramamine can affect behavior. You should check in with your vet however to see what they would prefer.

In addition, the experts cannot say for certain if a specific drug is safe for your dog. I would have her seen by a vet tomorrow to discuss the use of medication to help her with her car sickness. The vet can prescribe medication that is safe for her, including possibly OTC medications. You can do a few things in the car to help Rainbow as well. Keep her forward facing during the trip, and you can purchase a specially designed doggie seatbelt to keep her that way. They are available online or in pet stores.
