Puppy found flea. Are black spots on genitals flea eggs or normal?

You can also check for little black specks on his fir closest to his skin called flea dirt. Likely though if you apply flea prevention and the doctor found no evidence he should be ok but if you find these little black specks of dirt, a way to conform if it is indeed flea dirt is take a paper towel, wet it, and smear the dirt specks around. Normal dirt will not look any different after doing this however flea dirt will have a reddish color to it

As these skin changes are symmetrical and appear non-reactive, they are likely normal for your dog. They could be malformed nipples or just a general unique change of skin. I would observe them for changes in size and color and should they change or start to ooze you will need to have them examined by a veterinarian. Flea treatment is good, but you also need to treat the environment: Get flea powder, put some in your vacuum cleaner bag and vacuum your house and furniture and also non-carpeted areas frequently to remove flea larvae and eggs which live off house dust., Dispose of the bag in the trash outside. Hot-wash all the pet's bedding, If you do this diligently for a few months besides treating your puppy, you will get rid of the fleas.

Many dogs develop black dots like these on the abdomen and in axial and inguinal areas. As long as there are not many of them and they do not bother Kobe, there is nothing to worry about. However, if larger part of his skin becomes black, dry or thickened you should take him to your local vets to test his thyroid gland.

Fleas live on the surface of the skin, and a live flea will definitely move if you try to touch it. A dead flea would be easy to pick up and remove from your dog's skin. It can be difficult to differentiate flea dirt from regular old dirt - if you comb some of the dirt and put it on a white paper towel and then wet it with water, flea dirt will turn red because it is digested blood. Flea eggs are too small to see without a microscope. A flea comb can make it easier to find both adult fleas and flea dirt - run the comb along your dog's back near the base of the tail since this is typically where fleas like to hang out. Also, if your dog is not on a flea preventative I'd recommend talking to your veterinarian about recommendations.

The best way to determine if the dark specs are 'dirt' versus 'flea dirt' is to collect the specs on a clean white paper towel and apply hydrogen peroxide. If it turns rusty colored, it likely flea dirt. Flea eggs are very small and you are not likely to see those with the naked eye. Also, the best place to look for fleas is on the lower back and between the hind legs on your dog. Those look like nipples. You can check to see if there is a line of these on both sides of his ventrum. They usually start from the groin area and go up to the chest. There may be 10 nipples (5 on each side). Some dogs have only 6. Love the name Milo…best wishes!

I think you are asking about the areas on the prepuce? If they are flea dirt you should be able to wipe them off easily. If they wipe off and the debris starts to make a wet paper towel turn reddish then likely flea dirt. If you can wipe them off but they do not discolor the white paper towel then likely just dirt/superficial skin secretions. If you can not wipe them off then likely just skin discoration.
