My dog was bitten, now has an oozing lump. Is it an abscess?

It could be that Tank has an abscess. This commonly occur after animal bites and are very painful to the dog. He does need to see a vet tomorrow, as if he does have an abscess, it will need to be drained and flushed, and he will need antibiotics to treat it. I hope this helps!

I would recommend having this treated sooner rather than later and get in as soon as you can to have this taken care of. This appears to be an abscess and has ruptured. I'm concerned this is an abscess. A dog's mouth has a lot of bacteria and Diamond was bitten by the other dog, it can cause an abscess. This cannot be treated at home. You need to have her seen by a vet today. It needs to be drained in a sterile manner, and she needs antibiotics and pain medication. I hope this helps!

Abscesses form when infection is trapped under the skin or within tissues such as fat or muscle. The bacteria will try to find a way out, so they can break through the skin and create a "draining tract" of pus. This should be addressed by your veterinarian, who will likely drain the abscess and open it up to allow continuous drainage. Antibiotics for at least 2 weeks will be needed, along with pain medications. Depending on the size of the wound/abscess, a bandage may be needed. I hope this is helpful! She needs to see a vet for this, as antibiotics are needed to treat any infection. The vet can flush the wound out as well. I would take her into a vet first thing in the morning.
