My other dogs avoid our injured puppy after its medication. Why?

That is a reasonable concern. However pets are very forgiving as long as the incident isn't severely traumatic (involves severe pain or discomfort). I would work to continue to show the puppy attention and to play with him for at least 30 minutes twice a day. Also while the puppy is around your other pet you can allow the two dogs to at least see each other or comes nose to nose with each other while being supervised to ensure they don't rough play any compromise your pets sutures. You will be surprised how forgiving our pets are. I have had pets separated from each other for years and when they get back together all is forgotten and they coexist happily together as if they were never apart. You can also take some of your personal items hat have your scent and your other dogs scent on it to your mums house so that the puppy has a reminder there with him until you are all reunited again. Sometimes dogs don't like the change in smell when another dog comes back from the vet. You may want to wipe down the older dog with a damp cloth and brush her to get the vet smell off her. It also can be that he now sees she is weak and he wants to take over being the top dog. This can be dangerous as he could fight with her and hurt her so you are right to keep them separate when you are not there to monitor their behavior. If your younger dog is well trained I would make it clear to him that this is inappropriate behavior by your voice and placing him in a crate or outside when he exhibits this behavior. It sounds like Remy may be more irritable than usual because he's been confined and isn't feeling well - this is common in dogs, just like it is in people. So, he may not be feeling very tolerant of puppy antics right now. It's likely that he's acting aggressive towards the puppy now as a kind of preemptive defense - he's used to having to growl and snap at the puppy for the past couple of weeks, so it's becoming a bit of a habit. I would recommend making sure that Remy has plenty of room to avoid the puppy if he wants to - if needed, you may need to keep the puppy on-leash or in a separate room with a baby gate between them. Praise and reward Remy with treats if you can, whenever the puppy is nearby. Also praise any friendly behavior like sniffing or tail wagging when the puppy approaches. As long as you manage things carefully to avoid letting the puppy bother him while he's ill, I would expect their relationship to return to normal once he's feeling better.

That poor baby is lucky to have you taking care of him. Lupin makes a couple of different antibiotics, but I'm guessing at a dose of 250 you have either Cephalexin or Amoxicillin. Neither would be my first choice for a bite wound that involves the nasal cavity and 250 mg would be too high of a dose for this ittle guy, so I would recommend contacting your vet for an appropriate antibiotic. Continuing the wam compress on the eye is a great idea. You can do the compress along the nose as well. You may need to get some pain medication from your vet to get him eating and drinking. He may be too painful to open his mouth well. You can try to offer a small amount of water with a syringe. If he is not able to swallow that well, you need to see your vet again. If he does OK with swallowing water, you could try to offer him some warm, stinky canned food that you have made into a gruel to see if he can eat/drink that on his own. Lulu would not be aware of any contagious disease risks and many older dogs are unwilling and unsure of socializing with active, energetic puppies and take to time, up to a month, to fully adjust. Be sure to make time with Lulu on her own as you did before the puppy and try to introduce them after active play session when the puppy is more tired. Keep the puppy away from Lulus bed, toys and food bowls and keep him in separate room unless directly supervised to prevent friction and conflict

Poor guy. It is likely he is suffering from a bit of post traumatic stress and is likely still very sore from the bite wounds. He should gradually improve over the next few weeks. I am not sure what the condition of his wounds are but continue to monitor them for any excessive discharge or foul odors, which should prompt another vet visit if seen. Poor guy. Try to soothe him with warm compresses on the areas that may seem painful and offer him special treats through his healing. I hope that Gucci is able to make a full and speedy recovery! Unfortunately there are no OTC medications you can give this puppy, especially not pain relievers. Many are toxic to puppies and can be fatal if given. Keeping her separated for now is a good idea, and you will have to feed her with a puppy formula while she is separated. A brand I recommend is called KMR, and you can get it at a grocery store. Bottle feed her tonight, keep her warm, and definitely take her into the vet in the morning.
