My dog ate wood days ago and still hasn't passed it. Should I worry?

IT can take several days to pass, sometimes it stays in the stomach for some time before it continues to the intestines. as long as he is eating normally and not vomiting i would recommend to continue monitoring him and checking his poo daily.

It typically takes up to 72 hours for something to pass fully, and I would continue to monitor him for now. Three inches of it isn't a large piece, and hopefully it should pass without issue. It is a good sign that he is eating is normal, along with his energy and poop, so I would continue to watch him for the next 48 hours to be safe.

Poor Blanco! Puppies often eat things they aren't supposed to, including wood, and sometimes it passes on it's own. It's good that he is having normal bowel movements, and has no signs of blood in his poor or mouth. It could be that his stomach is still upset from eating the wood, or there could still be pieces of wood in his GI system. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. Continue to monitor his poop for signs of wood, and monitor his overall behavior. If he refuses to eat the bland diet, vomits the bland diet, becomes very lethargic, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or has blood in his stool, he will need to see a vet right away.

It could be either the food or the injections or a combination of both. It is OK that she hasn't passed any stool. I would not be overly worried since she is eating well and acting otherwise normally. Just keep monitoring her and call your vet if she hasn't passed any stools after 72 hours.

Thanks for using Pet Coach! Sometimes after not eating and having severe diarrhea, it can take time for a solid stool to reach the "end of the pipes" so to speak. I would say that 4 days is on the long end of what I expect so if she does not defecate in the next 12 hours, I would recommend seeing your vet to make sure she is not constipated (which could happen with serious dehydration). Hello. It is difficult to say if & when the floss may pass. In general, things transit the gut of dogs in about 18 hours, but floss can potentially get hung up somewhere. If this just happened, you vet may be able to retrieve the floss with an endoscope. If it has been many hours, I would feed your dog 2 pieces of bread slathered with Vaseline. Feed him a piece at a time. This will bulk up & lubricate any ingesta hopefully moving the floss along. In total, just monitor him over the next 3-5 days for any signs of inappetence, bloating, vomiting or belly pain. This will likely exit the body with feces. It is not really big enough to cause trouble in a dog the sixe of a Shetland Sheep dog. I would monitor his poop and check it for the next three or four days. You will probably find it. If your dog starts having diarrhea or/and vomiting then you will need to take him to a vet as it might have gotten stuck somewhere. The same is valid if his stool turns black, or if there is frank blood in the stool.
