My dog ate sugar scrub and threw up. Is it toxic? What should I do?

If the diarrhea is mild, you could just add some cooked white rice to his food to help it resolve. If it is worse, you could feed him 1/2 cooked white rice and 1/2 cooked white meat chicken (no skin or bones) until the diarrhea has resolved. This is usually designed to be completely harmless for dogs and the vomiting may be caused by a slight gastrointestinal irritation at this stage. As a first line approach, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. The good news is that tootsie rolls do not contain much chocolate, and depending on the type of sandwich cookies Molly ate, she may not have eaten enough chocolate to cause a problem with toxicity.
