My dog ate plastic wrap. What if it hasn't passed through?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 1 year old | 74 lbs

My 1 hear Labrador dog ate a cookie wrap. I took him to the vet immediately, but they were charging me over $300 for inducing vomiting. Since my dog was acting completely normal and I decided not to do it. It’s been 24 hours now and everything seems normal. He is eating and drinking water normally, but I am worried that the plastic wrap had not passed through the poop yet. Should I be worried?

It's hard to say. Sometimes these things can hang out in the stomach for weeks before they cause an issue. If you haven't been using gloves to THOROUGHLY examine the stools, you may have missed it. I would just continue to watch Draco for signs of abdominal pain or vomiting, which could indicate that the plastic is causing issues.
