My dog ate hard candy caramels. What symptoms should I watch for?

As long as there is no xylitol, the worst you may see is some minor stomach upset (vomiting or diarrhea). As long as Charlie is behaving normally, you should be fine. Minor stomach upset can typically be managed at home with a short fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. Transition slowly to the regular diet afterwards. Symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian may include: persistent or worsening stomach upset, loss of appetite, abdominal pain or lethargy.

It is likely this hard candy will be broken down in her stomach by the stomach acid, but the sugar from it may give her a tummy ache. I would check the ingredients of the hard candy to make sure there is no xylitol in it. That's because xylitol is highly toxic to dogs, and if it does have that ingredient, she will need to see a vet immediately. Xylitol ingestion can be fatal. Otherwise, she should be fine aside from the chance of GI upset in the form of vomiting and/or diarrhea. Should you see that, withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet.

Yes, she may have some vomiting and/or diarrhea. I don't think you should do anything differently. Usually these symptoms are self-limiting, meaning they will go away on their own with no treatment. If the symptoms last longer than 48 hours then you need to take her to a vet for an exam.

Oh dear! Fortunately, I would not expect this to cause any serious problems - neither popcorn nor caramel are considered toxic to dogs. She may have some vomiting or diarrhea for the next day or so, but otherwise no major problems would be expected. It's theoretically possible that she could develop pancreatitis or some other more serious GI illness as a result of eating something she isn't used to, but most dogs in this situation don't become seriously ill. If she is sick for more than 24 hours, or if she stops eating or begins acting very lethargic, it would be best to take her to the vet for an exam as these would be more concerning signs - she may need symptomatic treatment and/or IV fluids and supportive care.

She should be fine, the only real issue are the wrappers but she is a big girl so i would not expect it to cause a blockage, she might suffer from some diarrhea or vomiting, but i wouldn't expect anything too serious.

That's not good that Charlie ate some many Werthers! Werthers contains sugar, which too much of can and does cause GI upset in dogs. It could be that eating this number of candies could cause him to vomit or have diarrhea. In case that happens, I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps him. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, he appears to have stomach pain, he stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. If the lollipop had some sort of gum or filling, it can cause an obstruction in her intestines. If she also ate the stick, that may cause problems such as a perforation, especially if the stick was plastic. The sugar content may make Hazel slightly hyper or shaky as well. I recommend bringing her to the vet if you are worried, as any of the conditions above are easier to treat the earlier they are diagnosed.
