My dog ate my pet birds. Is she okay, and how do I stop her from doing it?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 25 lbs

We left the house for at least an hour Both my dog were in their crate while we were away I own 4 canaries somehow one of my dog got out and ended up eating 2 of those birds can their be and health issue due to my dog eating the birds and how do I stop her from killing my birds

Cookie should be okay after eating the birds, however keep a close eye on her over the next few days as the little bones could potentially cause an issue in the gut. Keep an eye for vomiting, diarrohea and dullness. If concerned go to the vet asap.
The only way to prevent this happening again is to make sure the birds are secure from the dog. You won't be able to train the dog not to eat them.
