Is it okay to delay puppy vaccinations if I don't have money right now?

I would not recommend it. Without vaccines your dog is not protected against a disease like Parvovirus which can be fatal. The virus lives in the soil and can survive up to one year after it is excreted from the body. The vaccine is highly effective but it must be administered in a proper timeline. I recommend to keep your new pup inside and to get him vaccinated ASAP. Best of luck.

It depends on the vaccination protocol. I don't think there will be an issue. We often have to delay vaccinations for 3 days and postpone them after a week-end for example,however to be on the safer side, I would check with your vet as well.

Certainly. Prevention of parvovirus can be done by simply making sure your pet is fully vaccinated. At this age King is not fully vaccinated, even if you have started his vaccine series. Its best to keep him indoors mostly and away from other areas where dogs have eliminated. Your own backyard is ok if there are no other dogs there whose vaccine history is uncertain. If both pets are from the same litter then they can be around each other no problem, especially if they are both healthy. Only sick dogs can infect other sick dogs. For most normal healthy dogs in households with humans who are not immunocompromised and don't partake in doggies daycare, dog parks or groomers, 4-6 weeks is generally fine. If however your pet does not meet this profile, you need to discuss the situation with your veterinarian. Also, the Rabies vaccine should always be kept up to date and never late. I hope this helps.

It is best not to untilmbis shots are current. The other dogs being vaccinated simply protects them, it does not protect yours. They can still be exposed or carriers for disease without being affected themselves

It is possible, although rare, for people to bring infectious agents into a home on shoes, clothes etc which a pup is not fully protected against until after the course has been completed and onset of immunity is generally a week or so after full vaccination. Similar to newborn children, general precautions of clean clothes and shoe, washing hands and avoiding contact with any owners of pets who have recently been unwell would be sensible. Do not take puppy to public areas or parks or mix with any dogs which are not fully vaccinated with up to date boosters.

This is definitely true. The diseases that we vaccinate against are very deadly to puppies. I've witnessed whole litters die from vaccine-preventable diseases, so it's definitely a concern. It's also very costly to get them the appropriate veterinary treatment when they get these diseases. It's important that the pup also gets a rabies vaccine when he is four months and 12 months old. Rabies will not only kill the dog, but will kill any people he bites when he is infected. I hope that helps and all is well with the pup.
