My Dalmatian puppy is aggressive & has bad breath. Is he deaf?

At his age, the bad breath could be an abscess or the normal shedding of his puppy teeth. Take a good look inside his mouth to check for any abnormalities. You may also consider having him examined by the veterinarian if you are not sure what you are seeing. Otherwise, I recommend to brush his teeth. It would be best to have a veterinarian do an exam on him. It’s possible he may have a wound on the roof of his mouth or back of his throat, or a piece of grass or a small twig stuck on a back tooth, etc, or a wound elsewhere in his mouth. It’s also possible that he’s having some tooth root problems with the recent eruption of adult teeth. If he is eating fine and otherwise acting normally, it’s ok to try brushing his teeth and try a rinse or water additive designed for halitosis (bad breath) in dogs. You have some correct and some incorrect information. Dalmatians have two kidneys, but are prone to a particular type of bladder stone called urate bladder stones (the result of a genetic abnormality that causes a defect in the metabolism of uric acid). However this bladder stone wouldn't cause a metallic smell. Kidney failure causes a particular smell, but for a healthy 3 month old, I'm really not worried about kidney failure. I would actually be most concerned about intestinal parasites in a pup or maybe some blood from teeth falling out. I'd recommend a vet visit since it's a new change and bring a fresh stool sample.

I see some swelling of his gums around those moles and a fair amount of plaque. Daily brushing will not correct this. He does need to see a vet for a dental cleaning, polishing, and scaling. Rex urgently needs to be seen by your veterinarian for an exam. You likely will need to schedule a dental cleaning under anesthesia. He likely has a very painful tooth root abscess. The vet will remove all tartar, and also clean under the gingiva wich will also remove bacteria which are causing infection and bad breath. He will also remove all rotten and infected teeth. This should greatly increase your dog's quality of life and will help prevent heart and kidney disease. He will also be able to eat properly without a toothache! His breed does not automatically make him aggressive. I would recommend getting a trainer but that is what I recommend with all puppies.
