It will probably take her some time to adjust to her new situation. Continue to socialize her as much as possible to get her used to being around other people and in different situations. You could also try an Adaptil collar and/or Solliquin chews to see if that helps her adjust. Good Luck!

Poor thing! I think it is important for him to get out of that environment. I strongly suspect his progress will be limited while he remains in that environment. Greyhounds in particular tend to be very sensitive, and that is likely a very stressful environment for him. In regards to medications, in his case, I would recommend Trazodone or something similar. The effect would increase serotonin in the brain and likely reduce his anxiety. Other than that, however, I would remove any sedatives or other medication as they may confuse his recovery. If he is food motivated, I would focus on positive reinforcement with food. If not, it is a bit more difficult, and can be very frustrating. The most important thing for him will be to move slowly, remain patient, and use the reward that best suits him- affection, food etc. I hope there is a way that you can get him out of the shelter without a collar and leash. Perhaps he would do better with a harness. I just believe that once he is in your home and can begin to trust you bit by bit that he will improve over time. An alternative would be to have the shelter crate train him. If he can learn that a crate is a safe and comforting place, then you could more easily transport him. It could also be a place in your home that he could have to himself.

Give him some time to acclimate. A pheromone product, such as the Adaptil collar or DAP plug in diffuser, may decrease any anxiety. Consider short visits to a dog park or short walks to get him further acclimated. Praise and reward him as he progresses, but correct any negative behavior immediately. In situations such as these, time is your friend, as well as patience. 4 years living solely outside is a long time for a dog, and that's a lot of years of work to reverse. You may want to treat Perseus as if he were a puppy, starting with a similar routine for feeding, potty training, etc to get him used to being around people and in/out of a house. Getting him used to you can take time. Always approach by talking calmly and gently and tossing a treat toward him. Not directly facing him and/or crouching down can also make you less intimidating and scary. Let him approach you first rather than you approach him, and be sure to quietly praise or offer treats any time he does. As he gets more used to you, you can then treat only when he allows petting or approaches you and accepts gentle handling. This can take a lot of time, so patience and always maintain a calm presence can help. It is also a good idea to speak with a trainer or behaviorist in your area who can come to the home and offer more tailored advice for how to help Perseus. They can help formulate a training plan as in the case of a behaviorist may also be able to recommend medications to help keep him stress free and relaxed as he learns how to be a dog.

I would make sure that you take your time with Sabo and do not approach him too quickly. Let him come to you and reward him when he does come to you. A good way to do this is to sit down and call him over to you. When he comes, reward him with petting him and giving him a treat.
