Is DIY vinegar spray safe to stop my pet from chewing TV wires?

Cayenne pepper won't hurt, it's what I use on soil to keep my dogs from getting into my potted plants! Trust me, their sense of smell is very strong and it only takes one time for them to find out that it tastes bad. It's uncomfortable, and cats often foam at the mouth when they taste something bad, but it won't last. Alternatively, you could get a bitter apple spray or similar at a pet store to spray on the cords. These work with variable success. The best option is to cover the cords or put them behind furniture.

They do make things like bitter apple sprays, lemon juice...etc that most pets don't like but some of them may not be deterred (and they may be sticky). Some cats dislike the smell of citrus, lemon thyme and lavender and you could try apply this to the wires but once again, some cats may not be deterred. The most reliable option is to put the ear buds in a location like a box where the cats cannot reach them. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

There are various sprays available at the pet store. Bitter apple is safe and usually effective. Other products may be necessary if this doesn't work and are generally safe if labeled for use as a pet deterrent. Avoid using any essential oils or other products that are not labeled for this use. I don't see any warnings on the product about it being a problem if the animal ingests it when licking it, but to keep her from licking it off, I would keep an Ecollar on Missy while you are using this spray. No. This does not work very well. Pets that ingest large amounts of vinegar may also get G.I. upset so it is generally not recommended. The best products for fleas are oral products like Simparica and Nexgard. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

I would recommend using a bitter tasting solution such as bitter apple or something very hot such as cayenne pepper and apply it to the things you do not want Peyton to chew on. Allow him to grab the object with the substance applied to it and when he drops it because of the bad taste, say "no!" to reinforce that this is not an acceptable behavior. I hope this helps! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There isn't any concern for over-exposure to the vinegar or water, but I would recommend a different approach for flea control. That mixture will not control fleas. The best treatment is monthly flea prevention from your veterinarian, given every 30 days for at least 3 months. Products purchased over the counter and flea collars don't work. You must treat all the pets inside and outside your home. I would also recommend a product called Knockout Spray for inside the home. You need to focus on dark areas, like under furniture, and treat any hard floor surfaces as well. After the product dries, vacuum thoroughly and throw out the bag or clean out the canister if bag-less. Apple cider vinegar will not fix your flea problem, and will only prolong the discomfort to your pet. I know the products seem expensive, but they truly work and in the long run is cheaper if you follow the flea treatment steps. Good luck and kisses to Gracie!
