Is it normal for an unspayed cat in heat to scream and run a lot?

This is likely normal behavior if she is in heat. It is really recommended that she be spayed if she is not a breeding animal. Cats that are not spayed are at risk of developing mammary (breast) cancer and/or pyometra (a life-threatening uterine infection). The more times they go through a heat cycle the chance rises. This is normal behavior for a female cat in heat - Zinnie isn't in pain, just highly motivated to mate :) Having her mated will temporarily fix the problem if she gets pregnant, but then you'll have to deal with all the possible medical issues of pregnancy and delivering kittens, and she will go into heat again almost immediately after giving birth. Persians and other flat-faced breeds are more prone to problems with having their kittens when they go into labor, so you should be prepared for the fact that she may need an emergency c-section when it's time to give birth. If you don't want her to have kittens, a better option would be to have her spayed - this will keep her from ever going into heat again, and will also ensure that she can't become pregnant. If you do want to have one or more litters of kittens from her, I would recommend having her spayed as soon as you are finished breeding her for good - otherwise, she will continue to constantly go into heat and have the same issues she's having now.

Hi there. Yes, it's normal for cats to vocalize constantly, make odd noises, and try to escape the house when they're in heat. It's also normal for her to be losing her baby teeth at this age. I would recommend having her spayed as soon as possible if you are not planning to breed her, since she will continue to go into heat every few weeks otherwise.

Unfortunately there is nothing specific to do to comfort her - she will show behavior changes until she is out of heat, and cats will cycle in and out of heat until they are bred. You could try something like a Feliway diffuser or other pheromone spray that might help her relax. Otherwise you should go ahead and try to schedule the spay surgery - ask your vet when they would feel most comfortable proceeding with surgery since she is currently in heat. Keep in mind that since hormones can persist for a period of time after surgery she may still show symptoms of a heat cycle for awhile.

It doesn't affect Samra in anyway, but her in heat behavior will be extremely annoying until her heat passes. Unfortunately cats cycle quickly in heat during certain times of the year, and this will happen over and over. I recommend having her spayed so you don't have to deal with this behavior anymore.

I see that Honey isn't spayed. I suspect she is in heat, and that is causing this behavior. Cats in heat are extremely annoying. If you want this behavior to stop, I would have her spayed. Best of luck.

Hi, the most safe and permanent solution is to have her neutered. If you get over this season, you will great a short break and then she will start again. It is also distressing for her so I would recommend to have her neutered.
