What are the small bumps on my unneutered male cat's stomach?

From the photos, those look more like teats. Check the bumps to see if they are in pairs. Cats typically have 8-10 sets of teats (even the males). Use your flea comb to check for fleas. There are many possibilities, Bubby may have an abscess from a bit especially if he is an outdoor cat, it could be a mat of hair if he is a long haired cat or it could be a tumor. Hi there, it is hard to give you a specific answer regarding these bumps without seeing them, but I will try and give you some suggestions. If the lumps have just come up and feel soft they could be urticaria from an allergic reaction. Likewise if they are fairly new and are red or hot they may be caused by a skin infection. However, if the lumps have been there for a while again they could be infection but they could also be little growths in the skin. Have a good feel and if they are under the skin and soft they could be fatty lumps. If they are hard and in the skin they could be cysts, and if on top get may be warts. Unfortunately there is also the possibility the growths could be tumours. If you like you can repost with some photographs or more information and we can try and help more. I would recommend going to the vet to have he lumps checked f they have been there for a while. If they have just come up and don't look infected you could wait a day or so and give an antihistamine in case of allergic reaction.

The area that you have circled in the photo is an area that we can feel mammary tissue (which males also have), fat or even lymph nodes. The most common thing we feel is fat which accumulates in the pouches on either side (which is likely what you are feeling in your female). Neutering or spaying a cat can decrease their metabolism and lead to weight gain, so it is common to find that they have more fat in that region after they are neutered or spayed. However, fat is normally quite soft and should not feel really firm, so I would recommend having your vet evaluate the area and make sure that it is normal. And presuming that it is, you can put Prince on a diet now, so he doesn't continue gaining weight! (Sorry Prince!) I hope that was helpful! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is likely a skin infection which may be secondary to something like allergies. The infectious component would have to be taken care of but it is crucial to take care of the possible allergy as well so this does not continue to happen. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests. Allergies can be very frustrating to deal with at first but so rewarding at the end when we are able to treat them effectively!

This kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections, benign or more sinister type of tumors. It is difficult to determine without actually seeing the lumps. Have your vet take a look at her. Your vet can do a needle aspirate, if needed, to diagnose and then your vet can recommend a treatment plan. She might need an antibiotic or they might need to be removed.
