Should I toilet train my cat? Is it safe to ditch the litter box?

Some cats do not like boxes with lids so that would be the only problem but if you start at a young age (like you are) there may not be any problems with using it. Kisses to Nala!

Yes, no problem but consider that if you need to keep him indoor in the future (even for few days), and he is not trained to use the litter tray, he might urinate/defecate in inappropriate places within the house. Hopefully will never happen but consider that won't be possible to check for any change in urine/feces pattern or appearance in case Oliver get sick (i.e. diarrhea, urine tract infection,..). If he was using with the litter tray then i would revert completely back to this step for 3-4months to ensure he relearns and does not get the habit of using the entire house. Some cats never adapt to the seat and he is unlikely to take the leap at the current stage, by not providing him a comfortable alternative his house training may suffer in the long term

This litter type can be perfectly fine for your kittens as long as they don't consume any of it. Another option is to start by simply using shredded newspaper or a newspaper-blend litter, such as Yesterday's News. More traditional clumping litters are also okay to use.

I have never heard this and would not recommend it as bleach is toxic. I imagine it is based on the ammonia in the bleach, you can simply put some of her urine into the tray, just mop up a puddlw with paper towel and place under the litter.

It should be fine if he’s choosing to go outside. I would think you would find urine or feces in the house if he is going indoors. Many cats prefer to go outside and as long as he has the choice to use the litter box I wouldn’t be concerned.

I think what you are suggesting is interesting and I think it's a great idea. Cats and dogs both will need to have a bowel movement after they eat. Dogs usually pretty quickly and cats sometime thereafter, but can be quickly when they are stressed in a carrier in your car going to the see the vet!! So great idea. That is if you can stand the constant crying in the car which could be the car ride and hunger. No seriously, great idea. I think it's completely safe to try.
