Why is my cat biting everyone? How do I stop this aggression?

It's hard to know why pets develop certain behaviors. It's possible he thinks this is some sort of game. Try to identify any type of a pattern so you can predict what is going to do. You may certainly try distracting him as soon as you notice the rough behavior. Try to direct him to play in a different fashion. It's possible he is bored and so is inventing his own games. Try meeting his instinctual needs and providing some new stimulation. Try feeding him out of a food puzzle. Hide food for him to find. Provide a stand or resting place by a window so he can look outside. You may also try clicker training him for positive behavior. The veterinarian can also prescribe medications which can help with bad behaviors. He should also be neutered because the testosterone can make pets more aggressive. Hi, your cat is very young still so being playful it is not unexpected however if she is being aggressive too there are lots of things to consider. You can try to offer her as many occasions to display normal predatory behaviour, such as toys and feeding puzzles. If she does not have any access to outdoors, would it be possible to have a Catio arranged for her to experience some kind of sensory stimulation/observe outside etc ? Does she have places at home where she can be left undisturbed and rest ? Cats can bite when they are feeling stressed, ill, or in pain. If Mason's behavior started suddenly it is best to schedule a veterinary exam to make sure there isn't an injury or illness causing him to act out aggressively. If he checks out healthy, then looking for causes of stress such as petting him when he wants to be alone, new people or pets in the house, or even limited access to resources. Making sure Mason has a place to hide and rest away from traffic and noise, access to his own food, water, and litter can all help reduce stress. Pheromone diffusers in shared rooms may also help decrease stress. Finally, playing with a toy, or only petting him when he approaches you may help Mason feel more comfortable with you and reduce biting incidences.

New routine? Did you move? Painters or construction in or around your home? And sometimes we can never identify a cause. If she is an indoor cat, it is unlikely to be infectious in nature. Try the following which are all shown to reduce anxiety in cats. If these do not help, talk to your vet about prescription behavior modification medications that can help.

 -Feliway- calming cat pheromone- comes in many forms from pet stores or online. 

- Adding a litter box. Studies show that the ideal number of litter boxes for a home is #of cats +1 . This is regardless of how clean you keep his current litter box.

 - making sure she has plenty of “high space”. The safest (and therefore least anxiety-inducing) place for a cat is UP. If you don’t already, get a cat tree or put up a shelf or two that she can go perch on. Best wishes to you and Mitzi!

If he is attacking you and not trying to play then he should be confined, you should always keep him up to date on Rabies, and you should discuss behavior modification drugs with your Vet, like prozac. I would get it in a liquid form you can put in his food. I would purchase feliway diffusers for around the house, one should go in his room. You can play with him but as soon as he gets over stimulated you need to stop and walk away. If he starts to get aggressive and is coming towards you squirt him with a water bottle. It is inappropriate behavior for a cat to attack you and injury you that badly. You need to strongly consider if this is the kind of relationship you want from a pet. If this is a recent change in behavior I'd recommend having your veterinarian perform a thorough physical examination as a first step. Some common diseases in older cats like hyperthyroidism can make them much grumpier than usual. Pain from arthritis can also make cats react in an aggressive way. If your veterinarian feels there is no medical reason for the behavior change I would then recommend talking to a feline behavior specialist to see if there are changes you can make at home to address this behavior. Cat bites are no joke - veterinarians have lost fingers due to infected cat bites and cellulitis! But it sounds like there could be some other things to look into before deciding on euthanasia.
