My cat has litter stuck on his paws. How can I remove it safely?

They would be able to evaluate this further and determine what would be the safest way to get it off. How to get it off depends on the chemicals of the product which they would know with you providing that information and also based on the extent of the damage. Best of luck!

I would recommend using shredded paper in her litter box instead of sand or litter if she has infected toes. Do not apply topical medication. If she is licking her feet excessively she may need an e-collar or something to help prevent her from licking. I'm glad to hear that the nail caps work well for your cat's front feet! Most cats are far more tolerant of having their front feet handled than their back feet. Since Your cat is unable to retract his toe, I do think it's worth trying to remove the glue. Walking in with his toe in an abnormal position could cause him to inadvertently injure himself. Most of these caps use some form of a super glue for attachment. If your cat will tolerate it without causing you any bodily harm, try to soak the affected area in either vegetable oil or mineral oil for a few minutes, then try to gently scrape away at the glue closest to his nail base. It's not a big deal if some of the glue remains on his nails - it will wear off eventually. You may want to try wrapping your cat's body tightly in a large towel with the foot in question left out of the wrapping. We all this a "kitty burrito" and it's often helpful for a bit of restraint. If one of Noushmc's paws seem to be wounded, I would recommend she see her veterinarian soon to take a closer look at the paw so it can be evaluated properly. If the underlying tissue is exposed, the paw can become infected and the litter can potentially be problematic if the wound is large enough. You can try using 3% hydrogen peroxide instead of the vinegar and water until you are able to get her seen by her veterinarian. I hope this helps!

Cats can sometimes get moist litter stuck between the pads. If Sarah goes outside, sap and tar are also possible. Try to clean and wash it off. This will give you a better idea what it is and to make sure the skin underneath is normal. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.
