How to safely move my outdoor feral cat to a new home with a dog?

Once you get to the new house, it is recommended to restrict her to one room for 2-3 days and it is also recommended to not let her outside the house for two weeks. keep the cat carrier open in the new house as it will be a comfort zone for her during the first 24 hours. try bringing as much from her stuff as you can to the new house (water and food bowls, scratching polls...).

Most cats will adapt to a new home if kept indoors for 4-6weeks then allowed out supervised for 2-3weeks and can be quite an undertaking for a new owner once cats have been acclimatized to fending for themselves and you should check to see if the new home is in a position to take this on

You must make sure Kitkat is protected from any harm either from your dog or from the other cats. All feral cats are going to be different and it may take weeks to months for Ghost to acclimate to her new environment and allow you to touch her. She may never be comfortable with you petting her. If it were me, I would give 3 months and if she is still apprehensive you can make the decision to let her back out in the backyard at that point. I hope this helps and hope she acclimates soon! Yes, this can potentially happen with indoor / outdoor cats. If they move to a new area and get lost outside, they may try and find their previous home. I typically recommend keeping cats indoors for several months before letting them outside so they familiarize themselves with the new area.

Possibly - especially if she is now pretty tame. If she is easily spooked or still not particularly attached to you it might not be a good idea. I recommend starting with short supervised trips outside. You should only feed your cat indoors and offer food during specific meal times to make sure you get her to come back in at night. You can also practice calling to her and giving a treat. Keep in mind that living indoors is much safer for cats and there are risks in going outdoors: infectious diseases, fights with other cats, and cars and dogs are a few of the threats. If she has not been vaccinated for the Feline Leukemia virus I would recommend completing that vaccine series before letting her outdoors where she could contact other cats.

You can always call the animal shelter/ animal control near you. Perhaps you could just offer the cat food off your property? Start with just a little off your property, then move closer and closer to the neighbor's? Or, if she is friendly toward you and you can handle her, you could consider trying to make her your official pet. In most cases, if you can get her into the vet for a checkup, a vaccine or two, and a microchip-ideally, then she is yours and you can claim her as your own outdoor cat.
