My cat's kittens have swollen paws around their nails. Should I worry?

Nino's paw could be swollen due to trauma, like getting stepped on, an insect bite, an infection or an issue with his paw bones. If it continues to appear swollen he should be examined by a veterinarian as he may need antibiotics or other medications. Do not give him any human medication as it can be very toxic to kittens.

It looks like your cat’s toenail has been sheared off, probably from an injury, fight or being hit by a car. Poor kitten! I'm sorry that its leg is injured - since it has swelling, drainage, and a foul odor, it sounds like it's probably infected as well. Tiny kittens like this can actually be treated with antibiotics when needed, so I would definitely recommend having the baby checked by a vet as soon as you can. He/she can prescribe antibiotics for the infection if needed, or even advise on other options such as amputation if the damage is severe. It's not ideal to do things like this in very young babies, but it's certainly possible to do them when needed.

Please have your kitten seen by a vet right away. That wound looks extremely painful and will require pain medication and antibiotics. The kitten will need to have the wound cleaned out by the vet and will likely need sutures/bandaging of the area. Pain medication meant for people can be toxic to kittens and should not be used without checking with your vet. If the paw is visibly swollen, then there is something wrong, even if he doesn't seem painful. I would be worried about infection. Keep Nyx inside and keep a close eye on him for the next few days. Make sure he is continuing to walk normal, have a normal activity level, eating and drinking well, etc. If anything changes, he should see the vet.
