My kitten has bald flaky spots. Is it mange, ringworm, or dog bites?

The scraping is evaluated under the microscope to look for any mites. If so, treatment will be started. If not, he will likely be checked for ringworm or possibly allergies will be considered. Poor, Kiara, I hope her legs are on the mend! There are several things that could be causing the dry patches in your pictures. The most common cause in a kitten would be ringworm (a type of fungus), but there are other possibilities like mites. I recommend having Kiara rechecked by your veterinarian and discussing recommended treatments, as there are several different options. Also, know that ringworm can be passed on to humans. If you have any concerning spots, make sure to discuss with your human doctor!

A lesion like that could be a bacterial infection or ringworm (which humans can get). Your best option is to have Mocha examined and tested for ringworm. Make sure to protect the area from rubbing and scratching and she should wear an elizabethan collar at all times. Skin and hair coat problems can be caused by a variety of things including external parasites (fleas, ticks, mites, etc), nutritional problems including loss of nutrition/blood by intestinal parasites, other dietary issues, bacterial/fungal infections, among many others. I don't think the food is causing a problem unless you are not feeding kitten food and I have never heard of the litter causing a problem like this unless it is getting caked onto the hair and skin. They are definitely old enough to be dewormed and I would highly advise that. Deworming should start at 2 weeks of age and be done every 3 weeks for at least 3-4 times. If these areas of concern worsen and persist, I would highly advise you have your vet evaluate Oreo to try to figure out what is going on. It doesn't seem like it's something contagious but sometimes not all kittens are affected. Your vet can advise some tests if needed (skin scrape, skin cytology, fungal culture, woods lamp exam, etc) to try to determine what is going on. Once a diagnosis is made or suspected, a sound treatment plan can be put into action. Your vet can also advise you on a sound preventive health care plan including deworming, testing, vaccines, flea/tick control, etc. Good luck with Oreo.

Most likely Oreo dealing with allergies. The two most likely allergies for a kitten would be food allergy, flea allergy or environmental allergy. Grain free diet don't always mean that pets cannot be allergic to them. Flea allergies are probably the easiest to rule out. If she's not already on a flea prevention, put her on a reputable product such as Revolution or Advantage Multi. If that does not work after a couple months, speak to her veterinarian about trying a hydrolyzed or novel protein diet. It will take roughly 3 months before you know if a food trial with a special diet will work. The only other rule out would be ringworm. Ringworm lesions will come and go frequently as well. It is a fungus that humans can get from their pets and is contagious between pets . The only way to know for sure if it is ringworm is to have the veterinarian test it. Best of luck!

This is very suspicious of ringworm (a fungal infection of the skin). This could also be due to a yeast or bacteria infection, but it's much more likely to be ringworm. . It's best to get it diagnosed by a veterinarian, because ringworm can spread to different parts of the body and can spread to other animals and people. Also, the more involved the infection, the longer it will take to clear. Ace will need prescription antifungal medication in order to clear this and will also need medicated baths. For now, I recommend separating Ace from your other animals and washing your hands anytime you touch him. Your veterinarian will be able to get you some more info at the time of exam. This looks like a ringworm infection. Kittens do get ringworm especially if they have been sick. You should take her to your veterinarian for a diagnosis and treatment. This isn’t an emergency though so you can wait until next week. This can spread to people so please wash your hands after handling her.
