Should my indoor cats get flea/worm meds when a new puppy arrives?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

I currently have two older cats and am going to get a puppy next month. I live on the 4th floor apartment and dont need to give my cats flea or worm medicine because they are inside all day. When I get a puppy I plan on putting it on flea and worm medicine, should I also do this for my cats? Thanks.

Unfortunately your puppy can bring in a live flea and that flea can then hop on your cat(s). So it is a good idea to also put flea prevention on your kitties. Make sure it is labelled as suitable for cats.
