What fish food is safe for my sensitive stomach cat on Royal Canin?

Hello, if you could recall the protein source or flavor of the food they really liked and had little to no digestive issues, then I would try something similar to that. Certain cats can have reactions to different kind of proteins and ingredients, so offering a novel protein (fish, duck, venison, lamb), limited ingredient (sweet potato, peas) diet is likely the best way to approach her GI issues. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Muffy! Royal Canine is a great food but it doesn't mean it is perfect for every pet! Hill's Science Diet and Purina are also good food. I would try a sensitive stomach formula in Royal Canin first then switch brands. Be sure to keep in mind that a food allergy is just once cause of vomiting. Other causes are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, hair balls, foreign body, dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, toxin ingestion or inflammatory bowel disease. Royal canin sensitivity control may help if hydrolyzed diet is not being tolerated; each diet should be introduced slowly and fed for 4weeks minimum to allow adaptation and improvement in clinical ssigns

Great question! I recommend Hill's Science Diet Healthy Cuisine Kitten Roasted Chicken & Rice Medley Canned Cat Food. It's really good for a sensitive tummy but is still formulated for kittens. I hope this helps!

Feeding a fish based commercial diet that is nutritionally complete is just fine as long as Cinderella is not allergic to the fish in the food you are giving. Cats that are fed raw fish frequently is more of the concern as they can develop serious nutritional deficits and vitamin deficiencies such as Thiamine deficiency which can be deadly. It is for this reason feeding raw fish primarily to cats is not recommended. However, feeding a small amount of tuna from a can occasionally as a treat is okay and will not cause a vitamin deficiency as long as they are also eating a commercially prepared food. No need to change the food Cinderella is enjoying now. From what you described, it sounds like she has tried a few foods that may have been giving her runny stools so if she is doing well on this particular food from Taste of the Wild, then I would keep her on that. The main ingredient in that food is duck and tapioca. Duck is commonly found in several formulations of dog food, both prescription and over the counter. However, tapioca is not. It is limited to this brand. If the protein source is the problem, then staying on a duck formula is ideal and the carbohydrate portion will not matter. However, if the carbohydrate is the problem then you will have to perform an elimination diet to see what besides tapioca he can tolerate. Science diet makes a D/D version that does contain duck you can try, however the carbohydrate source is potato. Puirna Beyond has a duck and sweet potato formula you can try also.
