My feral cat has a skin lesion. How can I get him vet care if I can't pick him up?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 8 lbs

I have a feral cat who has a skin legion behind his left ear. What can I do? Not sure if I will be able to pick him up to take him to the vet? I do have a picture of the legion if I can upload it in any way? Thanks!

This looks like a severe abscessation that requires antibiotics and appropriate disinfection. You can request an house call at your local veterinarian if possible or otherwise they may give you a bland sedative to be able to put him into the cat carrier.
