What can I use to disinfect cat pus from surfaces and clothes?

The incubation period is from 5 to 12 weeks. Some animals don't show clinical signs for a long time after being infected, but those animals are not contagious to other animals and people. I'm so sorry that Maggie has been diagnosed with Blastomycosis. I have most commonly used Itraconazole, but there are other antifungal drugs that are used to treat it as well. A wide variety of disinfects will deactivate the common viruses repressible for upper respiratory illness in cats as will steam cleaning. Lysol or clorox products or a diluted bleach solution can do the trick. I hope this helps and best of luck

Hello. First, stop squeezing the wound. Every time you do, you reopen & possibly re-contaminate the lesion. Pick up some Hibiclens ( chlorhexidine antibacterial skin cleanser ) at any pharmacy & gently scrub the area twice a day. It will take time, but eventually this should heal.. That could be ok but it is best to repost your question and attach a picture of it to have a complete and reliable advice from us. As you suspected, this presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). Disinfection can be done at home with diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths (twice daily as long as needed). Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/scratching. all the pus must be removed and the wound must be flushed. I would suspect that this could be from another cat, some other animal or a puncture wound from a sharp object. It sounds as though the lesion is infected with your description. I would recommend soaking the foot in a mixture of betadine and water until you have a light brown solution. Soak the foot with this solution twice daily for 10 minutes at a time. If the foot does not improve, I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at this so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! Please understand that we are not an emergency service so we cannot guarantee a quick reply. If he is leaking a lot all you can do is keep the wound clean the best you can and keep him in a confined area, like a bathroom, where it will be easy to clean up after him. Be sure he gets his antibiotics as scheduled. Unfortunately, the area where the incision is located is not an area that can be easily bandaged. Some people will fashion a human baby onesie (bodysuit) over the cat and put a maxi pad or something similar over the wound to catch the drainage. I do not know if that is something you can access easily. If you are not comfortable with the situation you can ask the vet to keep Pablo at the clinic until his condition is more manageable for you.
