Is it safe to clean a dirty 3-week-old kitten with its mom present?

I would not give her a bath just yet, as there is a chance infection can enter the uterus when you bath a cat right after giving birth. I would wait at least 2-3 days before bathing her. At this point, her cervix will be closed. Be sure to rinse her off well to get all the cat shampoo off her for the safety of her kittens. You can use a warm damp washcloth to gently wipe around her vaginal area to get give her a bit of a cleaning.

You can give her a bath at any time! A soothing shampoo with aloe or oatmeal can help keep her skin from becoming too dry. If she doesn't like the bath, you can also use pet or baby wipes to wipe down any very dirty areas, or even a wet washcloth with a little waterless shampoo sprayed onto it.

He is a young kitten so bathing him shouldn't be as scary as it would for an adult cat. He will likely just be scared and try to climb out of the tub or climb you. Thank you for submitting your question regarding the kittens. It is fine to start bathing them now. It nice to get them acclimated to the process before they reach 14 weeks of age. Prior to 14 weeks it is easier for them to adjust to new experiences. Keep bath time happy and a fun experience for them. Give special treats and stop if they show signs of anxiety. Do this once per week until 14-16 weeks of age or until they are used to it. Then just bathe as needed. I hope this information helps!

Once the kittens are eating mostly solid food, which they should be able to do now, you can go ahead and bathe her. At this stage they will still know to nurse, and they will gradually reduce the nursing anyway when they are eating solid food. Yes, this is fine, but don't apply any human soaps or shampoos to her, or this can damage the skin. I don't recommend giving a bath more than once a month, because you can wash away the natural protective barriers of the skin.
