Why are my two cats still fighting after 4 months? What can I do?

I'm sorry to hear that you're having so much trouble! Some cats, just like some people, may simply have incompatible personalities and may never make good housemates. It sounds like you have done everything right so far and given them plenty of time to adjust, so this is definitely a challenging case! Because of this, I would really recommend making an appointment with a veterinary behaviorist if you're committed to keeping both cats. He/she can evaluate both cats in person to help determine why they're having so much trouble getting along, and will put together a detailed plan for you to address the problem - this may include management recommendations to ensure that both cats are comfortable, training exercises you can do with them that may help, or even medication for one or both cats if necessary. You may ned to just keep them separated. If it has been 2 years, there is a chance she will never get along with them. You could try some Feliway spray and see if that helps or talk to your vet about trying an anti-anxiety drug, like Prozac or Trazodone. http://www.feliway.com/us/#redirected

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would recommend using the Feliway spray as well and spray the areas where the cats are the most and where they sleep. You can also use a product called NaturVet Quiet Moments calm treats plus melatonin for cats and see if this helps. If you are not having any success and they are still aggressive towards one another, I would recommend discussing this further with your veterinarian as anti-anxiety medications may be the next step. Thanks for using PetCaoch! It’s not uncommon to hear about behavior like Alyssa. It can take a lot of time and patience for them to get along but here are some tips for decreasing stress for Alyssa in the short term. -Feliway- calming cat pheromone- comes in many forms from pet stores or online. 

 - Adding a litter box. Studies show that the ideal number of litter boxes for a home is #of cats +1 . This is regardless of how clean you keep his current litter box. 

- making sure she has plenty of “high space”. The safest (and therefore least anxiety-inducing) place for a cat is up. If you don’t already, get a cat tree or put up a shelf or two that she can go perch on. 
 Feeding them in separate rooms with two or three water bowls throughout the home is also a good idea as perceived competition for resources is a common problem in cats. Best of luck to you and your kitties!

I am so sorry to hear about your kitties! I would recommend getting some Feliway multicat diffusers https://www.feliway.com/us/Products/FELIWAY-MultiCat-Diffuser which are a pheremone releasing product that can help these situations. A calming supplement such as Zylkene can also be helpful. Ensure the cats each have places they can hide/get away if needed as well as adequate numbers of litter boxes (one more than the number of cats in your household), water and food available where they can eat/drink without being disturbed by the other cat. My guess is that you did not do a gradual introduction with them?? If not, you may have to go back and revert to doing that along with these other recommendations. I'm sorry to hear your cat isn't doing well in your home anymore. If you have enough space in your home, you could try separating the two cats temporarily with a gate while we try to re-introduce them again. Feliway Friends is a cat pheromone spray which can help cats get along better. I see you live in Poland, perhaps you can try your local vet or purchasing it online. You can have them eat side by side, but with a gate between them. That may help them get used to each other's scents and start to associate their interactions with something positive (eating). Make sure that you have separate food and water dishes for the two cats, and at least 3 litter boxes in the house. Take it very slow and don't be too rushed to introduce them again. As much as we try, two cats may never get along but we can at least try to have them be civil toward each other! Best of luck!
