Why are my cat's ears warm and nose dry? Is she sick or overheated?

Pale nose and ears in a cat can be a sign of anemia (low red blood cell count), shock, or dehydration. The pale color happens because of poor circulation to the extremeties, which can be caused by any of the conditions I mentioned. If possible, I would recommend having your kitty examined by a vet since some of these issues can be serious - your vet can do some basic blood work to help determine what's wrong.

This isn't a sign of illness in cats, as their nose can change like this just by lying next to a heat source or in the sun. Try to tempt him to eat by offering him some boiled white meat chicken (no bones), or by offering him some gently warmed canned food. I would not worry about that at the moment, as sometimes a nose can change color and become dry intermittently even nothing is wrong. However, monitor this condition and watch for sneezing, discharge from the nostrils or eyes. If this occurs, she needs to be examined by a vet as she may have a respiratory condition.

A warm nose isn't a sign of illness. A cat's nose can go from wet and cold to warm and dry just by laying in the sun or next to a heat source. Since Jimi is otherwise acting normally, I would not worry.

Hi and thanks for posting! Common signs of an upper respiratory infection in cats may be sneezing, coughing, labored breathing or increased respiratory effort, nasal discharge, and ocular discharge. While having a dry nose may not necessarily mean anything significant, the nose being warmer than usual may indicate an elevated body temperature or fever. If Puma continues to have a very warm nose or is also experiencing other changes such as decreased appetite, lethargy, or is experiencing any of the above signs of an upper respiratory infection I indicated, you may want to take Puma into see his veterinarian for an exam and evaluation.
