Why is my cat stressed and hissing after a fight? Will she be okay?

Unfortunately the new cat is likely causing stress and this is a common feeling reaction to stress. She may not want to go outside as long as that other cat is around. It may be difficult to keep the other cat out of your area unless you want to purchase or build a fence. There are fences available that have curvature to the top that make it difficult for a cat to climb over. There are some things you can do at home that can help to manage her stress. Set aside 30 minutes a day for a vigorous play. Use a pheromone diffuser. There is a special prescription food made by Royal Canin called calm which may help. Use food puzzles. Give environmental enrichment. Lastly, your veterinarian has medications which can help as well. Many cats require a combination of therapies. Best of luck.

I would try and give him a calming treat such as NaturVet Quiet Moments with Melatonin calm chews for cats and the Feliway spray and collar. I am sorry to hear about Memphis. Sometimes cats will react to a stressful situation by transferring their frustration/aggression to those nearby. I would be sure your kitty has a safe area at home where he feels like he can hide/get away if wanted and he can easily access his food/water/ and litterbox for the next few days. I would consider picking up a Feliway pheremone diffuser such as this one which releases pheremones which can be calming to anxious kitties. Hello, sorry to hear about Princess. Your cat is very scared and stressed at the moment. Allow her sometime to calm down and try changing your clothes/getting your dog as far away as possible to where she is then try and go back inside. When she is calm, bring her to your vet to have her evaluated and make sure she doesn't have any injuries. Hope this helps.

So sorry to hear this happened. It is best to ignore her behavior. If you give her any attention you are rewarding an inappropriate behavior. I suggest you leave her be, put some Feliway diffusers in the house (especially in the room she is in) and try to act as normal as possible. You will cause her more stress if you are constantly checking in on her. I suggest you leave the door open to the room and she can come in/out if and when she pleases. Poor Daisy! It sounds like she's quite stressed and upset about the move. Moving to a new home is extremely stressful for some cats - it can take several days or even weeks for them to start to feel comfortable in a new place. I would recommend setting up a separate room for Daisy with her food and water bowls, litter box, scratching post or cat tree, etc. and leaving her alone until she's ready to venture out into the rest of the house. You can also try using a Feliway pheromone diffuser along with a natural calming supplement like Zylkene or Composure daily to see if this helps.
