My cat is straining to poop. What to do if his stool is stuck?

He seems to have a big piece of poop stuck. That hurts a lot. Best take him to a vet tonight to remove it and check if there is an injury. You can gently try to put pressure to remove it yourself. put some gelatine or ointment around the inside of the anus to help it move. If you cannot move it fairly easily you will definitely need to take him to a petER tonight.

You can try to ease it out. Use some vaseline and gently massage the outside of the rectum to stimulate her. If this doesn't work, then visit your vet to have some help here; however, unless it is stuck to hair it should come out on its own. If snowball is having stool that firm and is having a hard time going to the bathroom, it's time for a trip to the vet for further diagnostics and likely an iv with fluids so that she can get rehydrated. They can also give her a sanitary shave to remove the excess hair back there that's getting matted. My best to you both!

It sounds as Coco is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
