Is my cat's stomach surgery incision healing well after 2 weeks?

I think there's enough going on here that it would be worthwhile to take her for a recheck by your vet. It's not terrible looking, but there is some swelling along the incision margins and a small defect in the top of the incision. I would expect her incision to look better than this after a week. For now, I don't recommend you do any sort of treatment at home, because this may make things worse. As long as you get her to the vet in the next day or two, she should be fine to wait. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Oliver. The incision site appears slightly red in color. However, there is no discharge visible and I do not see areas that appear to be opening. I think that it is healing very well. Please keep the collar on him at all times to prevent any further licking. He should heal up very well. I hope this information helps!

The picture is not as good as seeing it in-person, but it doesn't appear inflamed and appears like the skin is healing well, which are good signs. The top part of the incision appears a bit crusty, so I can't quite tell if there is a break in the incision, or any other issues. You can take a cloth soaked with warm water and gently dab the incision to help remove the crusting. Just don't scrub the area. If you notice that the incision is open, then it's best to have your vet check her in the next day or two. I hope that helps and all is well with Nilla.

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The incision looks ok and if she is eating/drinking and playing well then it sounds like she is healing well. Sleeping more after surgery is normal. Watch for signs of vomiting, weakness, not eating, not drinking, discharge from the incision (blood, yellow/green), or pain/redness/swelling around the site. If these occur have her back to your vet. Otherwise, it sounds like she is doing well. Just make sure she can't lick at the incision, and if she is licking get an E-collar to prevent it, other than that there is nothing to speed up the healing. Best of luck with your girl.

Hello, & thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The incision looks like it is healing quite well. It is a little pink, but I see no swelling or discharge. You can remove her cone tomorrow, but continue to look at Merci's belly daily for at least another week. Take care.

She may be licking excessively which could be contributing to the inflammation. Cats have rough tongues which can traumatize the skin leading to infection. Place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent licking and have her rechecked by your veterinarian. She may need antibiotics and/or anti-inflammatory medications to resolve the issue.
