My cat is sneezing, coughing, and has a watery eye. Is a vet needed?

He could have an eye infection or a respiratory infection causing his symptoms. I'm quite concerned he is wheezing and coughing. He sounds pretty sick, and any problem like this plus the eye infection requires an immediate visit to the vet. I would take him into the vet first thing in the morning. I hope this helps!

There could be a problem in the lungs like fluid build up or asthma or a problem with the heart like heartworms or something congenital. There are many different possibilities and without seeing him it’s hard to say what the cause is. I recommend taking Lil Man to a vet right away for an exam and possible xrays and blood work. Try not to stress him out while transporting him because this could make him worse. Put him in a carrier and cover it with a blanket. Good luck and kisses to Lil Man!

Poor Gus! He sure looks cute curled up with his buddy! I would recommend taking him in to get a exam by a veterinarian. They will check to make sure that his eyes are ok- some cats get ulcers with an upper respiratory infection. They will check for a secondary bacterial infection that would need antibiotics. Sometimes- they will prescribe a nebulization solution which is to be used in a nebulizer to help open up his airways. It is important to make sure that he keeps eating. I would guess that Greggy has an upper respiratory infection. This can cause eye swelling and discharge from conjunctivitis along with sneezing and nasal discharge. A scratch on the eye might also be possible. If there are absolutely no vets around today (you might want to try travelling to see an emergency vet) then I'd recommend keeping Greggy comfortable until he can see a vet - he may need antibiotics and prescription eye ointment. You should make sure he's eating and drinking - you may want to try offering canned food if his appetite seems decreased.
