How to help my cat settle, eat, and stop panting in a new place?

Moving is very stressful for a cat! Yes Moxie should calm down, and I recommend putting her in one room to herself with food, water, and litter box. Make sure there is a place where she can hide in the room as needed, as some cats feel more comfortable hiding when stressed. Leave her there tonight and in the morning, crack open the door to see if she will come out and explore on her own. If the panting continue to the morning, however, she should see a vet immediately. I would recommend taking DoReMi to a veterinarian as soon as you can. It is not typical for cats to pant unless they are in extreme pain, very stressed, or in respiratory distress. Some common causes of difficulty breathing include heart disease, feline asthma, and pleural effusion (or fluid outside the lungs in the chest cavity). Even if he is just experiencing stress in his new surroundings it is much safer to have him checked out by a veterinarian than to wait until his breathing is worse.

I would agree with Dr. Johnson. Catnip and Feliway spray can be helpful. You might also consider some training, by having her spend time in her carrier at home without actually going anywhere. Giving her treats in the carrier at home, and even progressing to short car rides around the block can be good baby steps to becoming comfortable for longer trips. I hope this helps.

It's difficult to tell without seeing Gustor, but I would be most suspicious of the new environment being the cause of this behavior. Cats are notorious for not adjusting well to new houses and will display varying signs of distress. If he is otherwise acting normal and eating and drinking OK, then I would not be too concerned. If he does seem to have other problems, then it's probably best to have a vet examine him and make sure there are no health problems. You may help calm him down with a cat pheromone diffuser like Feliway. These can be purchased at the pet store and placed in various rooms in the apartment.
