Great question! When kittens have worms, it typically takes two deworming treatments given two weeks apart to kill all the worms. The first kills the adults already present, which the second kills the adults who had not yet hatched from the eggs at the time of the first deworming treatment. I would give you kittens another deworming treatment now, a second two weeks after the first, and then they should be dewormed every three months regularly. If deworming them again doesn't help with the scooting behavior, then I would take them back into the vet. Good luck, I hope this helps :-)

Depending on what was used to deworm Vickie it's still possible that she could have parasites like tapeworms. Vickie might also have an anal gland issue or allergies. If this continues I'd recommend having your vet examine Vickie.

it also could be because of impacted anal glands. If you could take Cleo to your local vets for a check-up that will be great. Impacted anal glands can cause pain during defecation. What is more, it can turn into an abscess if left untreated.

These do indeed look like tapeworm segments, so BV will definitely need to be treated again. Normally, to make sure that all life stages of the tapeworms are killed, the initial deworming dose needs to be repeated in 14 days - so if this wasn't done the last time she was treated, this could by why the problem has recurred. She may also simply have become re-infected, either from fleas or from eating dead rodents or other animals if she hunts outdoors. I would recommend calling your vet to let them know that you are seeing tapeworm segments again - they may be able to have you come and pick up another dose of dewormer for her, rather than requiring another exam since she was just seen for this problem two months ago.

Yes, Casper could have worms and it could be tapeworms which are not treated by panacur. Tapeworms require praziquantel to kill, which is available by prescription only from the vet. Kittens need to be dewormed every month until they are six months of age, and it could be that Casper has a heavy burden of worms and needs another deworming treatment now. Once he reaches six months of age, he should be dewormed every three months. I would take him and a sample of his feces into the vet so the vet can treat him.

Hello. The two extra holes you are seeing are the anal glands, all dogs & cats have them. Sometimes it takes more than one deworming to remove all worms or he picked up another case of tapeworms. If he hunts or has fleas, he will always be exposed to the possibility of picking up a new tapeworm infestation. Keep him indoors & on a flea preventative & this will curtail the tapeworm problem.
