Why does my spayed cat have a saggy belly pouch after surgery?

I swear it happens to most cats after they are spayed or neutered. Even lean cats have a little bit. But yes it can be a sign of being overweight. Based on your photo, maybe Luka is a little overweight. But even having him lose weight won't change the skin that hangs! Just poke it for fun!

Most cats that have this are older than Noushi and have already been spayed or neutered. I think what you are referring to is normal but if you want to post a picture I'd be happy to look. Hi there. It is common for females that are spayed to gain extra fat in their abdominal region. If the belly is very hard or she seems uncomfortable I would take her in. Otherwise just remember she doesn't have the extra hormone production she used to-changes are normal. Hope this helps

This flab under her stomach may be normal, a lot of spayed cats get this fatty area there. Her nipples being more visible could be due to fat as well. A lot of cats gain weight in those areas after they are spayed. You can have her checked out by a vet to be safe.

If you feel she is not spayed then I would plan on getting her fixed soon. That will help prevent her from getting pregnant in the future and also it will eliminate her risk of developing a condition called pyometra (spontaneous infected uterus). Her belly fat is probably normal, so unless she is considered to be overweight then continue with her normal diet (Hill's Science Diet, Iams, Evo (Innova), adult cat food). As long as she is eating, drinking, urinating and defecating normal, then she is likely fine. Hello. After being fixed, there is no way she can become pregnant. She is maturing, & since she needs fewer calories, you may need to cut back on the amount of food she gets each day.
