My cat has red/brown eye discharge and won't eat. What should I do?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Hello! I wanted to ask you why is my cat dropping a tear from the right eye only and the fluid is red/brownish. I'm really concerned. He also won't eat a lot. (I met him 2 weeks ago in my garden, I really loved this angel and he's been with me for 2 weeks now and I keep him outdoors for now)

Poor kitty! He is handsome! This could indicate an infection of the eye or even an upper respiratory infection. Being an outdoor cat, it is also possible that he could have feline leukemia or feline aids. If you have able to get him to a vet then I would. Your vet will be able to test him for feline leukemia and aids. They will also be able to provide him with some antibiotics and eye drops if needed. I hope this helps! Sweet boy!!
