I went through a serious case of depression and let my litter boxes get out of hand. My cats started going on the floor by the litter boxes, which I understood because of the state they were in. In an effort to provide better care I bought two self cleaning litter boxes and my cats are still urinating right in front of them even though they are perfectly clean. I think they learned this because I allowed it in the past, but how do I get them to go in clean boxes again? I have 4 cats, 2 boxes.

Provide additional litter boxes. The general rule of thumb is one box per cat plus an additional box in a neutral location. Use a litterbox attractant to get them back into the boxes. Use an enzymatic cleaner, such as Nature's Miracle, to thoroughly clean soiled areas.
