My cat's poop is weird, like a pancake. Is it diarrhea? Vet now?

Poor Kila! The diarrhea could be due to many conditions including eating something she shouldn’t have, bacterial over growth, parasites or even organ disease. If the diarrhea has continued beyond 24 hours, I recommend to have her examined by the veterinarian. With continued diarrhea, there are often bacterial shifts in the gut that will make matters worse regardless of the initial cause. Make sure to bring in a sample of fresh stool. The doctor will check her for parasites and bacterial over growth. Many times a bland diet can help and then a slow, gradual introduction to the normal food can be done. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. This should all be plain. I wouldn't really be worried about this at this stage. The purple color may be a bit of digested blood but it could also be due to some colon irritation. I suggest you continue what you are doing and if it persists then you should call your vet to ask them about it. They have more information about her health than we do. My only other suggestion is to put her on a probiotic: like Advita or Fortiflora. This should help with the diarrhea. Diarrhea is a common problem with cats and is usually self-limiting (will go away on its own). Usually it's not serious, but it's always possible that it could be the start of something serious. If she has any of the following, then she should see a vet: 1) Blood in diarrhea 2) Very watery diarrhea 3) Starts acting very depressed 4) Stops eating or drinking for longer than 24 hours. 5) Diarrhea lasts longer than three days. You can help her get through this by feeding bland food (i.e. boneless cooked chicken). Feed small portions (1/4 cup or less) at meal time. You can also add probiotics to the food (can get this at the pet store), which has demonstrated some efficacy for improving diarrhea. Ensure fresh, clean water is always available. Poor Frida! It sounds like her tummy might be a little upset. It does not sound like she needs regent medical attention at this time, but monitor her closely for decreased appetite, lethargy, vomiting and increased diarrhea or straining to defecate. Be sure you are using the fortiflora as directed for her size. If Frida is still experiencing these symptoms in a few days I would recommend a checkup with your vet. They can do a thorough physical exam, and may recommend blood work and a decals analysis to check for any internal problems that may be contributing to the changes you have noticed.

I would recommend switching to a different food such as a hydrolyzed protein diet and feed this for the next 4 weeks to see if this makes a difference. I would also add in a probiotic such as Purina Fortiflora, which can be found online or at your local pet store. I would recommend to try switching them to just a plain boiled chicken diet for a few days to see if this settles their stomach and add in some probiotics. I believe you can buy proviable paste online and give as directed. My concern though is that they may have a parasite or bacteria that they aren't finding in their fecal samples. If they aren't improving, contact your vet to see if you can either bring in just a fecal sample or deworm both of the prophylactically. I hope this helps!

It appears that you are a very astute cat owner and it's possible that something is off, but I would not worry too much right now. We see frequent drinking in cases of hyperthyroidism, kidney failure and other diseases, but this is normally seen over a long period of time and there would be other signs of illness. The fact that she has diarrhea is a bit concerning, but it's normal for them to have diarrhea occasionally. Usually the diarrhea is not severe and will resolve within three days.
